Classy steakhouse chain. Been here twice, both times they met my expectations. Great cuts, seasoned right, amazing service, and big portions. They do charge extra for side dishes, but they are family style made for sharing. Great place to try on a special occasion. They really make you feel special with their dining experience.

The two things I would like to emphasize about this place is VERY GOOD FOOD AND EXPENSIVE. Now the price is not over the top, you definitely get what you pay for. The atmosphere is phenomenal, a very classy and romantic place for a date. This is also good for families. It would be fitting for you to dress up nice eating here to blend in with the crowd and decor. I had the prime rib here and it was one of the best I've ever had. Their sides were no disappointment either. Staff is extremely friendly and professional, what you would expect from a classy establishment. I would go here again for special occasions only.

The service was fantastic and filet was cooked perfectly. Great wine list with tons of options and knowledgeable staff to help make recommendations. Our waitress Leslie was superb and provided us with a great dining experience. Go, You won't be disappointed.

Excellent service as always and still thinking about the Caesar salad-best salad I've ever had hands down. Definitely a breath killer though! Spicy Thai green beans were great too, going to try and copy at home.

This is a high-dollar steakhouse that delivers on all points. We knew we'd be spending a lot here and went in with high-expectations. Fleming's left us very satisfied. High quality ingredients and exceptional service. They'll even leave you with an electronic wine list. If you're here for a steak, I would recommend that you eagerly opt for the pricier but exceptionally flavorful and tender dry aged beef. It's something you'd only see in much larger cities. Bravo Flemings!

Continues to be the best place to eat! Martin Cooks a steak perfect every time!!!!! Manager Steve is pretty great. Love this place!!! Porcini Rubbed Filet is my fav. Always get the lava cake!

Beef Flemmington  ..................aka beef wellington.... Awesome place to eat. Very pricey, but it sure is tasty! I try to stay away from big chain places. This place is good no matter what city you're in. Everything is a'la carte, expect to spend around $50 per plate.

My favorite place to go in Des Moines. Not because I like slapping down a lot of cash, but the deal in the bar during the week, dubbed 5 for 6 til 7 is the best deal around. From 5 - 7, there are 5 wine choices, 5 cocktail choices, 5 appetizer choices, AND the Fleming's Prime Burger for $6. Seriously, you can't get a better fine steakhouse deal. 10 feet behind you, in the dining room, you're paying twice that. LOVE IT.

This 5 stars is for dining at the Bar. I would give the dining room 4 stars. The bartenders are always professional and willing to please. They also have the best Happy Hour in the city. I used to frequent this place a lot more before children, but still try to get there once a month or so.

Wow. This last dinner was as good as it gets in terms of food. Truly. I took my wife and daughter here for a special occasion. This past Sunday. I didn't know that they had such a great Prime Rib special but was very happy when I did find out. I opted for the Caesar Salad, a Prime Aged Rib Eye and a side of Fleming's Potatoes. My wife and daughter opted for the Prime Rib special which came with a salad, a 12oz prime rib, and a dessert. I cannot begin to tell you what a tremendous value their Prime Rib special is right now. Its 29.95 for all of the items I described above per person. These are full servings not watered down pint size servings. This runs till 9/1 so get there now. I am debating going again this weekend. The salads arrived perfectly dressed (wife and daughter had the Fleming's salad) and the salad forks were indeed chilled :) The steaks arrived shortly thereafter perfectly cooked. We ordered ours medium rather than medium rare. I usually order medium rare but I have found that the aging process makes the steaks a bit gamey and getting them mid rare makes some of the gaminess overpowering for my palate. The steaks and prime rib as mentioned above were perfectly seasoned I didn't have to use the salt shaker at the table. The sides were piping hot, we ordered Fleming's Potatoes (my favorite - basically a cheesy potato lasagna), French Fries (wish they were thinner cut and crispy but still good), and Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes (a bit too blue cheesy for us-phew!). All were devoured and enjoyed. The desserts, wow they were all well done. We ordered the creme brulee, the molten chocolate cake, and the carrot cake. For me the carrot cake is the best that I have EVER had. My daughter loved her creme brulee and the molten chocolate cake was actually molten (sometimes when we ordered it the inside wasn't truly molten). I don't give many five stars but the food was really really good that evening. On par with many other steak places I have been to. The only place I have had a better steak is Bavette's in Chicago (but that's another story/review). Fleming's got five stars because their food was EXCELLENT but their service was only above average not excellent. Here is where they need to focus right now. Our server, Brendan, was not the most pleasant and had a very pretentious air about him. The lady that came (I think her name was Patrice) to fill our waters and brush the crumbs of our table was EXCELLENT, Brendan not so much. Additionally we waited over 25 minutes after our entrees for our dessert. It was a bit too long, I feel like our desserts were just sitting there and no one brought it to us. My belief was confirmed when a manager brought us our desserts rather than our regular server (Brendan). This is one of the few examples of a time that the food quality drove this experience to a five star rating (normally service carries the day).

It may be a chain but it's the best place in Des Moines! Baked Brie is a must for a starter along with the Flemings Salad. I highly recommend the dry-aged Ribeye. Well worth the $5 extra over the original Ribeye. Their wine selection is phenomenal. I also had their cheesecake with the best homemade whipped cream I've had in a long time. Best of all is their wait staff. So professional and it's clear they care about customer experience. This place is spendy. For two people, expect to pay $175-$250. But it's well worth it!

Dinner tonight was great! Brought the baby and the hostesses were gracious and accommodating. You can also check your coat at the hostess booth at the front. Our server Cathy (Kathy?) was friendly, helpful - easy to talk to yet professional at the same time. She helped me choose a delicious red wine (mm, banfi..) and was very knowledgable about the menu. Bread with two kinds of spread: The red spread (forgot what's in it) was super tasty. Tenderloin carpaccio appetizer: Good. Worth trying if you've never had carpaccio. I could've done without it and not missed it Prime bone-in ribeye: I asked for it medium rare with the truffled poach lobster. I actually really enjoyed my steak the way it was; however, in hindsight, I'd ask for the sauce on the side. I felt as if the caviar was completely lost in the sauce. I saw it but didn't taste it. Dry age prime rib: Boyfriend's steak was cut super thick. He also asked for it medium rare with no companion. I enjoyed the discernible crust on his steak and just the delicious meatiness of it. If you love meat, go for the dry age steaks. Lobster mac and cheese: Good but not memorable. I'd try a different side dish for next time. Chocolate lava cake with ice cream and fresh whipped cream: Because shoveling meat ladled with bearnaise sauce and butter into my mouth wasn't enough of a treat. An enjoyable way to end dinner. My first time at Flemings. It was like Mastro's younger sibling. I'd definitely go again.

Flemings has never disappointed. The manager and staff at this location are top notch. They make sure that everything is better than you expected, and if not they will correct it! Great food and great atmosphere, I highly recommend.

We LOVED their Happy Hour. Great drinks, fried calamari, tartare, ravioli. YUM. Great service. Even though their credit card machine went down, it didn't hinder our experience.

Consistently superb food, drinks, and service. With that said, it comes at a high price, but if you are looking to splurge, you will not be disappointed. My favorite is the 5 for 6 until 7 happy hour (week nights in the bar only). 5 drinks and 5 appetizers for $6 until 7pm. They also have a beer deal and a deal on the burger (which is awesome!) I've only been on Fridays, and you have to get there right at 5 to get a seat. My husband and I try to eat at locally owned restaurants, but this is one chain we do very much enjoy.

Flemings has delicious food and the best service you will find anywhere. It all comes with a huge price tag. It's a small plate style restaurant, so don't expect to leave there stuffed without spending a small fortune. We reserve this one for special occasions only. Our last meal for two there was $200, we weren't stuffed.

Four years ago my husband proposed to me here. We have spent every anniversary and many special occasions here. There are two reasons we keep coming back- the food and the service. Tonight we came in to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and recent nuptials. We started with some yummy parmesan bread and a Flemings salad. We ordered our usual- filets, Flemings potatoes, jalepano corn, and Mac and cheese. Oh.my .gawwwwd! Just melts in your mouth! We ordered the molten lava cake, which never disappoints. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out. The service was impeccable. They really rolled out the red carpet for our special evening. We received champagne to cheers our night to, a cute box of chocolates, a signed card by the staff, and a gift card for next time- WHAAAT???! :-) Flemings, you just went from great to incredible. A HUGE thank you to the wine manager, Jessica, Chef Josh, and our server Steven. You all made our night so wonderful and so special!! We are looking forward to next time :-)

This is update to a prior review for Fleming's. I recently dined there and had a negative experience. Shortly after my posting on Yelp, one of the operating partners reached out to me to give them the opportunity to make it right. In my opinion this is a great restaurant. Not because the food or the service, I would expect that to be great nonetheless. The reason I changed my review for this restaurant is the fact that someone there cared enough to reach out to me. That says a lot of about the place and their management. Everyone makes mistakes. It's the companies that care enough about their customers and try to improve their quality and service that will succeed in the social economy. Just look through the postings on Yelp or Trip Advisor and you'll see quickly the places that care about their customers. More and more people are using peer reviews to decide where they sleep and eat. As I said everyone makes mistakes. It's the establishments that try to make things right that will get my business and many others. I highly recommend Flemings!

Went to Fleming's for the first time and I'm already looking forward to going back someday. Every single thing I had was not just good, it was excellent. Its pricy, and I still walked away like it was money well spent. So what I experienced.... STILETTO COCKTAIL -- Hendricks gin, blackberries, lime juice and ginger. Cocktails are pricey but they have a huge selection and this was a winner. APPETIZERS CALAMARI APPETIZER -- A nice sized portion of lightly breaded calamari with a chili sauce. Probably some of the best calamari I've ever had. CRAB CAKES APPETIZER -- Two jumbo crab cakes made of huge chunks of fresh crab and a delicious, almost spicy sauce. Also some of the best crab cakes I've ever had. (I would come back for these two appetizers, and if I wanted to keep costs down and still be satisfied, I would probably just order these two appetizers) LOBSTER TEMPURA --Four chunks of lobster just like it sounds. Its good but I don't get overly excited about lobster unless it's a part of something. SLICED FILET SMALL PLATE-- Three of us got the sliced filet small plate and I probably enjoyed it more than anyone. Tender beef on potato croquettes with an almost spicy sauce. I would have to try something else next time but I was very satisfied. BBQ SALMON ENTREE -- my friend got this and I probably wouldn't have ordered it simply because of "BBQ" and "Salmon" being next to each other, but I had a bite and it sort of blew my mind. I would absolutely order that. Also, I don't rate on service and atmosphere much but this place rocked both of those. I haven't been to a place that is quite this upscale and casual at the same time. It was professional and relaxed.

This is a top notch, high quality beef and steak restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious, from appetizers (try the baked brie) to desert. My rib eye was wonderful. We had the good fortune of timing to order half price wines that were being phased out from the inventory. Our server Barbara was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. We did have a couple of snafus with one appetizer and one steak being over cooked. They immediately comped for the errors and even brought extra sides at no charge. They couldn't do enough for us and we are not regulars. Ryan is a manager and he is on top of everything. Yes, this is a pricey experience but it's worth it.

Recently went there for me and my daughter's birthday. We had a party of 8. It was phenomenal. I have been to Ditka's, Schula's and quite a few Ruth Chris and the steak I had at Flemings was as good or better than any of them. The lobster Mac and cheese was food gams worthy. Great environment, great service and phenomenal food. I will be back!

Not a steak fan but had the petite filet mignon and it was fabulous. And if they have them get the garlic brussel sprouts. Life changing...

My wife and I returned here despite our neutral first experience and to say things have changed for the better would be an understatement. The service was impressive the entire visit, and referencing the 5 start rating, the food here was truly as good as it get's. It's important to mention that when you visit here, your expectations should not stop at great food. Come with anticipation of a relaxing and comfortable evening. Their servers are experts and creating a sense of privacy, yet delivering perfect service. They are not there to rush you through and seat the next table, they are there to ensure every aspect of your visit is enjoyable. That being said, for dinner plans you will be here a while, so enjoy yourself. (That's the point after all) For dinner, I had the prime bone-in ribeye and my wife had the seared new bedford scallops. The steak was absolutely overwhelming with the first bite, quickly overtaking my entire mouth with flavor; it probably changed my facial expression as I tried to figure out if my mouth had just been taken captive by alien invaders. But no, this experience continued to take place to the very last bite. My wife had a similar experience with her scallops, with each bite, wondering how it was even possible to maintain that kind of flavor in a scallop dish. As if the service and food wasn't enough, the wine pairings our service suggested, complimented what we were eating enhancing the flavor of (both our) wines and at the same time enhancing the flavor of the food. If you want a dining experience you will never forget, go to Fleming's Prime Steakhouse. (Just come with a fat wallet)

My sister and I recently threw a 50th wedding anniversary surprise party for my parents which we held here. Ironically we had 50 guests. It was months in the planning and it couldn't have gone smoother. I worked with their event planner Chris Wyant and she was a dream to work with, she answered all my questions, no matter how small and was available whenever I needed to talk to her. She helped put together a custom menu that was perfect for our needs. As we made changes to our plan, she would track all the things we talked about so she could relay it to the staff, she is super organized. She even helped us out by tossing in a couple of amenities, which was greatly appreciated On the day of the event, the staff was tremendous. Chrystal and her crew of hosts made sure we were taken care of when we got there early to set up and helped calm our fear that the "surprise" would not go off as we had planned. Our wait staff, Barbara and Chris were absolutely the best. They were in constant communication with me if they had any questions as they expertly handled serving all our guests. They timed everything perfectly and we never felt rushed or that we were waiting on things to come out. The food was excellent and all our guests commented on how much they enjoyed what was served. An amazing time was had by all and it is because of all the great people at Fleming's (West Des Moines) that our party was a huge success. I talked to my parents a week later and they are still blown away by how much fun it was. If you are planning an important event, you can't go wrong at Flemings.

I took my boyfriend here for our anniversary. He always takes me somewhere so I decided to take him this time and he loves steak. Furthermore, he loves rare steak which is hard to accomplish perfectly. We both ordered filet mignon, he got his rare and I got mine medium rare. Our food took awhile to come out but our waiter explained that the rare mignon did not come out as planned so they were making a new one. When we got our food it was perfect and I don't mean perfect lightly. My boyfriend about died while eating his it was so good...seriously, I thought I was going to need a paramedic...and mine was amazing as well. Without a doubt the best steak either of us has had. He was ranting and raving about it all weekend. Yes, it was pricey but it was hands down the BEST beef we've eaten. And this is Iowa. We know our cows. I think next time we will try the Sunday Prime Rib Special. It is a little easier on the wallet and sounded amazing. Additionally, when I made the reservation I told them it was our anniversary. We had a signed card on the table from the staff and everyone was telling us happy anniversary. At the end of our dinner we received a box of truffles and a $25 coupon for next time (we gave this to my grandparents since we couldn't make it back by the specified date) so they really made us feel special.

At a nice restaurant like this I was shocked when I asked for a couple of tastes to decide which overpriced glass of wine I wanted to get and was told I should really buy a flight if I wanted to sample 3 different wines. Obviously there's nothing worse than getting stuck with a $10-15/ glass wine that you don't dig. Aside from that - my food was fantastic! I eat steak often and this filet was quite tasty. Light gorgonzola sauce and a taste of asparagus. Great destination if you really want a nice steak. Just wish they had grass fed :(

Standard higher end steak place. Steaks are cooked perfectly to order, food quality is goo, service is attentive and well paced, but everything is overpriced and menu items are basic. The waiter made a big deal out of the chilled salad forks, but they were room temp. Nice try.

Fantastic experience all around. Great wine list. Went with three friends. We all ordered steaks that were perfectly prepared. They were also very accomodating with food allergies once we brought it to their attention. We had an awesome time.

My husband won a gift certificate here, so we thought we'd check it out and have a nice dinner. I got a steak, that was perfectly done, medium rare just the way I like it, and he got the shrimp and scallops. All very tasty. I had just one of his scallops and told him as we were getting up the next morning that I felt a bit sick- a few hours later, his boss called me to come get him because he had been throwing up and passed out on the bathroom floor at work, from food poisoning from the place. I will note, this was over a year ago at this location, and I have been informed this restaurant is now under new ownership/management since then.

I can't quite give it a 5 star but I may reconsider later. Whether it is a 4 or 5 star steakhouse, it is definitely worth visiting. The food and server service was great. There was just a little problem with the time between the appetizer and the main course but more on that later. First the food and service. I ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer and it tasted really good. Served on a vegetable slaw with an Asian dressing, it was plenty so I didn't order a salad. The main course was the porcini rubbed filet mignon with a side of regular sauteed mushrooms. The steak was just like I like it, medium rare and the mushrooms were very good. It came with asparagus and they were good but not great. I like asparagus served as thin stalks and these were a little on the large side. They were grilled though and really pretty good considering the size. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate them a 7.5. The steak was a 9.5. The reason for the 4 stars is because of the 45 minute delay between the appetizer and the main course. Now, I was dining by myself and I told Craig, my server, that I was not in a hurry but I could tell they were getting a little anxious about the delay. This was on a Wednesday night at 7 PM and the parking lot was jammed so they were really booked up. Jessica, the floor manager, served my meal and was very pleasant about the delay. So, I noticed the delay and it didn't bother me too much, but is was noticeable. (I was reading a book about the mafia of Kansas City while dining in the bar area so I was not in too much of a hurry.) One last little thing. I was enjoying my second martini, gibson style, when I noticed one of the staff inspecting and cleaning the wine glasses. I signaled for her to come over and we talked for a few minutes. I don't know about you but seeing someone clean the wine glasses at the table before you are seated is really a good sign. (I told Mary to expect a promotion soon.) The noise was energetic, even for a Wednesday night. The food was great. The cost is definitely upside but I would say worth it. Great place to have a special meal with special friends. I'll come back.

This place was bizarre. Ultimately, they can cook a decent steak. I got the bone in ribeye and it was cooked superbly. The service and attitude was unbelievably awkward. I was eating with my (female) boss and the whole time the servers seemed to act as if it was some sort of romantic tryst. The wine was satisfactory but the Mozzerella and tomato salad was blah. Been to better, been to worse.

Made another trip to Flemings. This time to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed. Filet's were cooked to exact order. Lobster mashed potatoes were yummy. Had a gift card for a small plate that was accepted without attitude and the scallops were sweet and tender. Service was polite and attentive. Flemings is expensive but they earned it as usual. We'll be back.

This is my favorite special occasion place! I always feel very taken care of by Flemings which would be expected given the price tag! We save some cash by buying $100 worth of gift cards for $80 at the Costco across the street. We started with the bread and cheese spread compliments of the chef. I had a berry martini which was very good. For dinner I had the prime rib special which came with salad, side and dessert. I didn't like the cut of beef that much but my start - butternut squash soup - was amazing and a very generous helping. The chipotle mac and cheese was also good and the molten lava cake is definitely meant to be shared. We started with the calamari which is the best in town - not greasy and covered with a wondeful chile sauce. The only drawback was that it was my birthday and they usually give you a dessert or chocolate strawberries or truffles on the house and we got nothing. Oh well!
